FYI
COMPOST VS COMPOST
Understanding the difference:
Composition & Price
Many commercial products are sold as “compost” but have not actually gone through a decomposition process. There are 2 general categories that can be distinguished.
Farm compost: Includes a wide range of organic materials composted against an equal amount of poultry manure from grain-fed birds. This is a 12- month process allowing the prolific increase of micro-organisms essential to the complete breakdown of organics. This product is well-composted and highly nutritious. It can be used as a concentrated fertiliser.
Biomass compost: Made from fast-growing crops harvested and combined with relatively sterile materials such as bark and sawdust. This results in a lightweight product quickly produced over a couple of months and is worthwhile to improve soil structure. It must not be confused with rich farm compost as there is a vast difference in nutrients/kg(mass)
